How Many Botox Units Do I Need?
There’s no one-size-fits-all number. The amount recommended depends on the area being treated, the strength of your facial muscles, how your face naturally moves, and the result you’re hoping to achieve. Here are some general unit ranges to give you an idea of what may be recommended.
| Area | Treats | Typical Units Needed |
|---|---|---|
| Glabellar Lines (“11s”) | Frown lines between eyebrows | 20–30 Units |
| Crow’s Feet | Smile lines around eyes | 10–30 Units |
| Forehead Lines | Horizontal brow lines | 10–30 Units |
| Lip Flip | Thin upper lip / gummy smile | 4–6 Units |
| Masseter (TMJ / Jaw Slimming) | Teeth grinding, square jaw | 20–60 Units |
| Hyperhidrosis (Underarms) | Excessive sweating | 50–100 Units |
Botox vs. Dysport: What’s the Difference?
Botox and Dysport are both neuromodulators. They temporarily reduce targeted muscle activity that contributes to expression lines, including forehead lines, frown lines and crow’s feet. While they work on the same basic principle, they are different formulations and are dosed differently. How they are selected and used can depend on the treatment area, muscle movement, facial anatomy, previous treatments and the desired outcome.
That’s why there isn’t one product that is automatically “better” for everyone. Some patients have tried both and simply prefer how they respond to one over the other. At Westrick Clinic, Nurse Sue assesses how your face naturally moves, listens to what you want and what you don’t want and recommends the product and treatment approach best suited to you.
The goal isn’t more Botox or more Dysport. It’s the right treatment for your face.
